Kavita Rao: Choreographer, Artistic Producer, Professional Dancer
Kavita Rao produces distinctive contemporary dance styles. Internationally and regionally renowned for her choreography and teaching abilities, she conjures out of her world travels characteristics of eastern and western dance. Signed with LA's top dance agencies, GTA, Rao is bringing her years of experience in entertainment to the next level. She been featured in numerous live shows, music videos, films, commercials and television shows during her dance career.
Acclaimed Choreographic Expertise
Her choreographic work can be seen in episodes of “Got Talent Israel,” "Angie Tribeca" on TBS, Youtube Red’s “Buddy System,” WeTV's "David Tutera's Celebrations, "Dancing with the Stars,” and “Tengo Talento Mucho Talento” and Disney Channel and Disney Jr. commercials starring Ciara Wilson for which she has garnered a nomination for the 2020 World Choreography Awards.
​She is the choreographer for YouTube sensation Vidya Vox and has choreographed 5 of her most recent videos including “Tamil Born Killa,” “Diamonds,” “Minnale,” “Home,” and her 2017-2018 world tour “Kuthu Fire,” as well as her 2019-2020 US tour “Mad Dreams.” She also choreographed Google 360 film “Female Planet” and singing competition reality show ARRIVED starring A.R Rahman. Rao was also honored to be an associate choreographer for world-renowned designers Louboutin and Sabyasachi’s ”Deep Sleep for Beauty” launch. Asst. choreography projects with famed choreographer Mary Ann Kellogg, Season 1 of “I Feel Bad” on NBC and Netflix’s “Like Father,” starring Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammer, NBC’s “American Auto”, Netfilx’s “Woman in the House”, Apple TV’s “Little America.” Rao, creative Director for Dj/Violinist Esther Anaya, directed and choreographed Esther’s single “Viola,” as well as her NFL Chargers Draft performances the past two years. Other artist credits include: Joji, The Musical Doc, Kamal Khan, Ishmeet Narula, Navi and Kiran and more. Additional choreography credits include: Six Flags Magic mountain, cruise line and the NBA Sacramento Kings dance team past 3 seasons.
Teaching Artist
Rao was a long time professor at The Studio School in LA and had the privilege of creating her own curriculum as being the first to teach her course – “World Cultural Dance ” in her specialty of the Indian Arts. An 11-year faculty member of Dupree Dance Convention, Rao was the first master instructor to bring Bollywood dance to the national convention circuit. She is also faculty on Heat Convention 5 years running. Her choreography can be seen all over the US in the dance competition circuit. Some master class credits include: Joffrey West, Dance and Dialogue, Dance Connection, Harvard Westlake as well as public and private schools all over the US.
Rao has judged many national dance competitions, including Just Dance (India’s SYTYCD), Jhoomti Sham, Bollywood America and Nachale Deewane. She created artistic works in Guam, Israel, India, Mauritius, S. Africa, Los Angeles and across the US. Rao was resident choreographer for the commercial production company Contagious, choreographer for Cirque Berzerk production company. Past and current studio residencies include Millennium Dance Complex, Dance Dimensions and International Dance Academy Hollywood — and master classes across the country. Along with teaching multiple dance styles, Rao uses her public relations and entrepreneurial background to teach a business for dancers class to help prepare young dancers for the industry.
Karmagraphy Artistic Director
Along with teaching and choreographing, Kavita directs and owns the dance entertainment company Karmagraphy, a full service entertainment and production company based in Los Angeles and New York. As the Artistic Director of Karmagraphy, she produces work weekly to fit her client’s needs and exceed their expectations.

Creator of “AAJA, A tale of Karmic Destiny” and Co-creator of “Bollywood Rise”, both full-length dance/cirque spectaculars featuring interdisciplinary performance arts and high scale production, Rao pushes the envelope when creating live stage shows. Both shows are currently touring and have received rave reviews from media outlets as KTLA, India West, India Journal, LA Times and more. Rao has such a wide range of choreographic styles due to years of experience creating both live experiences and on camera work.
